    Hey Leon Confirmed!!.. I had an experience last Memorial Day on my SX190. I didn’t noticed that I was idling over some Sargasso, which blocked the strainer and triggered the overheat alarm. I jumped in the water, cleaned out the strainer from the back of the jet pump, and restarted it, but the alarm kept going off. I did this a few times with no luck, so I called a towing service. The tow company was super busy that day and took forever to arrive. They were towing us at least 15 mph, which I later found out could damage my engine! But before that I took precaution and I used the same pliers to clamp that hose, and put the throttle forward also. When I got home, I ran the engine on a hose for a few minutes, the alarm keep going off but noticing that the water is coming out from correct spots, and after a restart the alarm finally stopped. I've since taken it out around Miami a bunch of times with no issues. Just wanted to share my story and confirm that your recommendation really works - 100% proven!

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore 8 дней назад

      Hi Chad, that boat weighs close to 2500-3000 lbs. loaded. Tongue weight should be between 250-300lbs. You are fine where you are, it's close. If you slide the winch stand back an inch on the trailer tongue you will lesson tongue weight if you feel you must.

  • @ZZ-jd6vx
    @ZZ-jd6vx 16 дней назад

    If you are looking at buying these things for your boat, DON'T!! I put these things on my brand new aluminum trailer to hold my boat, thinking that all f the "reviews" were good. After the VERY FIRST trip to the water, the next time out they became hard to release. I then took them off, sprayed them inside with corrosion X, lithium grease and even MAX WAX!! They made three trips to the water, after the third trip I had to cut the straps with my knife to release my boat from the trailer. I currently have two giant chunks of rusted together garbage to show for my money. DO NOT BUY, unless you like throwing your money away.

    Hi capt , I’m a new subscriber to your Channel. Very informative thanks. Im getting set to retire and I’m seriously considering making an investment in a new Yamaha. Question? Can I attach a battery tender to shore power and hook it up to my house battery while docked so I can play music, hang on the boat with lights running without draining the batteries? I don’t think Yamaha boats are set up to have shore power right ?

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore Месяц назад

      Hey Dave, I'm hoping to be retired before long myself! You're right, we have no shore power option on these boats. They are designed to be trailered and not wet slipped. If you're not running high wattage amps you should be able to listen to music and enjoy the boat on battery power for quite a while on a two battery set up. If you're not driving around enough to recharge the battery I would plug into a battery tender or NOCO unit whenever possible. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.
